This year we again have a fantastic selection of annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees.  While Mother Nature seems to be reluctant to let Spring arrive this year, we are hopeful that you all will be able to begin your planting soon.  In anticipation of warmer weather, let me tell you about a few of the annuals I am most excited about in the greenhouse this year.  So far anyway.

Thriller, Filler, Spiller

When planting flowers in a container, there are three words to remember in design - Thriller, Filler, and Spiller.  Select tall "thriller" plants for the center/back of the container, "spiller" plants to flow over the edge, and "filler" plants for in between.  We've put together a helpful container design planner that guides you on the number and types of plants suitable for your container size and shape, and a list of some plants that qualify in each of the three categories.

Many of our rural customers have trouble with deer and rabbits eating their flowers.  Fortunately, that doesn't mean you can't have a flower garden.  You just have to select varieties that these animals will not eat.  At Thompson Greenhouse we can help you make those selections.
